Unite FOR ACCESS

The annual campaign by Level Player Field to raise awareness and drive equality for a more inclusive matchday experience for disabled sports fans takes place this year from February 28th to March 15th 2026. We have chosen the Bromley game on March 7th for our support for the campaign. We have arranged for the following:

  • Players will all wear Unite for Access T Shirts during the warm up.

  • Managers will wear Unite for Access Badges

  • A disabled supporter will lead out the teams

  • All the flagbearers will be disabled supporters

  • The GTFC Disabled Football team Grimsby Town Ability Counts FC will parade around the pitch

  • There will be a message in sign language on the scoreboard

  • Feature in matchday programme

  • Half time play on pitch (weather dependant)

  • Hopefully a video showing the matchday experience of a disabled supporter.

It is very important that we keep highlighting this issue. At Grimsby Town the matchday experience for disabled is by no means perfect but better than a lot of places we visit. The lack of facilities at some stadiums is not acceptable with some not offering enough spaces for wheelchairs and others only offering places with home fans.

We have a good relationship with the board at GTFC and working hard to improve the matchday experience for disabled supporters including a dedicated wheelchair viewing facility between the Osmond and Ramsdens Stands. This is with architects and building control for approval and we should get positive news in the near future.
